Mauro J. Atalla

Mauro Atalla, Ph.D., senior vice president and chief technology and sustainability officer at Trane Technologies, leads engineering and technology, product management excellence and innovation, and sustainability.

With a distinguished career spanning over 26 years in the industrial sector, Mauro Atalla, Ph.D., is an accomplished professional with significant roles in both the aerospace and buildings industries, leading large engineering organizations and infusing innovation across a broad range of technical disciplines and product lines.

In his most recent role as the engineering and technology leader at Collins Aerospace Systems, Mauro guided a global team of 21,000 engineers, spearheading strategic planning, advancing technology development, and ensuring excellence in product safety and cybersecurity. He drove productivity initiatives, championed Scope 3 sustainability reporting, and cultivated engineering talent through key development programs.

At Collins Aerospace, he led the successful engineering integration of the Rockwell Collins acquisition and the merger between United Technologies and Raytheon, with an emphasis on unlocking the potential of the unified team.

Mauro holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from Virigina Tech and an MBA from Duke University. He has been recognized as an ASME Fellow for his significant contributions to the field, and was awarded the 2018 Graduate Alumni of the Year award by Virigina Tech.
